Nam Cat Tien National Park

The Cat Tien National Park is located in the three provinces of Dong Nai, Lam Dong and Binh Phuoc. It covers 74,000 Hectares of lowland forest and swamp approximately 100km (70miles) north east of Ho Chi Minh City and is home to numerous birds and mammals. One of Vietnams most important and largest National Parks. Supported by the WWF, projects include surveying the small population of Javan rhinoceros, that still exist in the area the last remaining population on main land. Other mammals include Elephant, Gaur and tiger. Many birds can be found, including such specialities as Germain's Peacock Pheasant, Bar-bellied Pitta and the rare endemic Orange-necked Partridge. Vegetation is varied and made up of seasonally flooded grassland and swamp forest. The wetland is bounded to the east, south and west by dense humid evergreen forest with Hills support semi-evergreen and deciduous forest.

Day 1: Hochiminh – Nam Cat Tien (L, D)

Picking you up early morning at the hotel and having breakfast on the way to Dong Nai Province (breakfast is not included). About 10:30am, getting the permission then crossing the Dong Nai river and entering the park. Checking in accommodation. After lunch guided tour in the park. This park covers 36,500 Hectares of lowland forest and swamp and is home to numerous birds and mammals. Afternoon trek into the forest. After dinner take a night drive into the park using a spotlight to view nocturnal wildlife. Over night in air-conditioned park lodge. There is a basic restaurant that serves passable food located in the camp.

Day 2: Nam Cat Tien (B, L, D)

Morning drive then trek to crocodile lake with plenty of opportunities to see many varieties of bird life and if you are lucky the chance of a larger mammal. Late afternoon return to the park station.

Day 3: Nam Cat Tien – Hochiminh (B, L)

Morning boat trip along the river to view wildlife on the riverbank. After lunch return to Ho Chi Minh and transfer to the hotel. End of services.
