Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island

Situated in the Tonkin Gulf, Halong Bay is one of the world's natural wonders - a bay with more than 3,000 islands, which time, wind and waves have sculpted into fantastic shapes. The best way to appreciate this magical scene is from a boat, cruising between these karst cliffs, which loom like fairytale castles, complete with rocky spires and hidden caves. The bay is dotted with many tiny islands, pristine sandbanks on the turquoise water providing an excellent backdrop for swimming or just sunbathing on the boat deck.

Day 1: Hanoi - Halong Bay - Cat Ba Island (-,L,D)

8:30 a.m. pick-up at your hotel. We drive through the Red River Delta to Ha Long City.
Upon arriving in Halong City, we transfer to our boat for a cruise of the crystalline emerald waters of Halong Bay, giving us the chance to take in the stunning scenery of this UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site.
While on board we will have a sumptuous fresh, local seafood lunch followed by a swim (in the summer only) and the opportunity to explore the most beautiful limestone cave Sung Sot (Surprises Grottoes).
Our final destination of today is Cat Ba Island. Check in hotel and dinner at local seaside restaurant.

Day 2: Cat Ba Island - Hai Phong - Hanoi (B,L,-)

After breakfast at the hotel, we have the entire morning to explore Cat Ba National Park, and enjoy the fauna and flora of this rainforest.
In the afternoon, we will be board a local ferry for our trip to the port city of Hai Phong. Here, we transfer to our vehicle for a 2-hour journey back to Hanoi.
