One of the first things people do on arrival in Nha Trang is to head straight down to the beach. And what a beach! Facing east out over the South China Sea and palm lined, it's definitely a place to hang out. A fast-growing destination, you can be sure that Nha Trang will change from year to year.

Of course as Nha Trang is a tourist destination this means that you can try the upmarket five-star hotel dining options but it's nice to know that there are lots of local down-home choices. In fact the only obstacle you will find is that not all menus are in English.

Nha Trang may not have the sleek designer shops of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, but there is still plenty of opportunity to shop in a much more laid-back atmosphere than in the big cities. Try the daily market on Doc Lop Street and the small shops in town for some terrific local artwork. Have some clothes made for you at one of the many tailors in town. Near the port are lots of little shops selling seashell souvenirs. Outside of established shops and supermarkets always remember to bargain and never pay the asking price.
