What to Do on Phu Quoc Island

Clearly one of Phu Quoc's main activities, if you can call it that, is to lay on the beach and sunbathe, perhaps taking the odd swim now and then. But for many there's only so much 'doing nothing' you can do.

Looking beyond the beach, nature lovers have lots to explore around the center of Phu Quoc, where there's verdant rainforest with the Suoi Ban River running through it, waterfalls and natural springs.

The natural park is definitely worth a look.

The menu and quality (good) of the food on Phu Quoc remains the same almost regardless of where you eat, only the surroundings change and restaurants are priced according to the surroundings and decor.

Cheap local restaurants with plastic chairs are at one end of the spectrum serving similar fare to the nicely designed and more expensive resort restaurants at the other end. Beaches and the sea is a common backdrop.

There isn't really and top end dining yet, but no doubt it's on the way.

What to Do at Night on Phu Quoc Island

Night time in Phu Quoc is as relaxed as any other, the whole island is a place to just chill out and enjoy the scenery and after dark is no exception - the hypnotic lights from the squid boats at sea are so numerous they look like a galaxy.

Nightlife invariably follows this pattern; cocktails at sunset, dinner at a beachside restaurant followed by a few drinks at a beach bar. It gets no more complicated than that.

Where to Shop and What to Buy on Phu Quoc Island

Markets selling a wide range of fruit, vegetable and seafood are the main shopping venues in Phu Quoc, not necessarily what tourists want to buy but very interesting to see all the same.

For tourists, shopping opportunities come in the form of handicrafts expertly made by locals and pearls which are farmed locally.
